His Holiness Karekin II Receives Mayor of Chaville
On Sunday, September 14, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received Mr. Jean Levain, Mayor of Chaville, France. Mr. Levain was accompanied by a delegation of French and Armenian pilgrims. His Holiness welcomed the guests to the Mother See and spoke of the significance of their visit to Holy Etchmiadzin on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
In his remarks, His Holiness fondly recalled his visit to Chaville during his Pontifical Visit to France in December of 2001. The Pontiff of All Armenians spoke of the warm and brotherly ties that have existed between the French and Armenian people for many decades.
Mr. Levain thanked His Holiness for the audience, and commended the Armenian community in France for their devotion to their adopted country and their exemplary citizenship. The mayor stressed that he has always admired their strong love of the Armenian Church and their determined faith, which has helped them overcome many adversities in their history.
