His Holiness Karekin II Receives Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs
On April 14, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received Mr. Antanas Valionis, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, and Chairman of the Council of Ministers for the Council of Europe. The Minister was accompanied by his delegation, and Mr. Ashot Hovakimian, the Armenian Ambassador to Lithuania.
During the meeting, His Holiness spoke of the activities of the Armenian Church, her present-day difficulties and challenges, and the programs attempting to overcome some of those hardships.
Mr. Valionis, in turn, informed His Holiness about the rebirth of religious life in his country of Lithuania, as well as other Eastern European nations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, His Holiness expressed gratitude to the Minister for his government?s attention towards the Armenian community of Lithuania, and noted that all nations which have welcomed Armenians in diaspora have benefited by their presence.
