His Holiness Karekin II Receives Ambassador Viktor Ross 04.02.2004

On February 4, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received Mr. Viktor Ross, newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Armenia. 

His Holiness welcomed the ambassador and reflected upon the historic relations between the Armenian and Polish nations, noting that the first record of Armenians arriving in Poland date back to the 11th century. Ambassador Ross spoke highly of the contribution of the Armenian community in the development Poland's culture and society, beginning with the presence of a large permanent settlement in the 14th century. His Holiness expressed his pleasure with the opening of the Embassy of Poland in Armenia, and stated his confidence that developing diplomatic relations between the two states would contribute to the fostering of the friendship between our two peoples and nations. 

The Pontiff of All Armenians also spoke about recent migrations of Armenians to the hospitable country of Poland, and noted his appreciation that Rev. Fr. Daniel Tumanian, a young member of the Brotherhood of Holy Etchmiadzin, is presently studying Theology at the University of Warsaw. 

At the conclusion of the meeting, His Holiness gave his blessings and best wishes to the newly appointed ambassador, and wished him many successes in his mission in Armenia.
