His Holiness Karekin II Received Newly Appointed Ambassador of India
On December 03, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians received Mr. Kishan Dan Dewal, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to the Republic of Armenia.
Welcoming the Ambassador, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; reflected on the friendly historical relations between the two nations, emphasizing that the best evidence of this is the presence of the Armenian Churches in India, and though small but the active Armenian Community. His Holiness emphasized the importance of the activity and mission of the Armenian Philanthropic Seminary in Calcutta, noting, that it is a unique bridge in the development of the relationships between the two countries. The Pontiff of All Armenians also appreciated all the efforts made by the two countries to expand the cooperation in a variety of areas.
In his remarks, the Ambassador touched upon the historical relations formed between Armenia and India, the historical presence of Armenians in India and, in particular, their impact on the Indian educational sphere, which also continues today. He also spoke about the Armenian-Indian political relations and further plans.
During the conversation, His Holiness inquired about the life of the Indian community in Armenia, in particular, about the Indian students studying at RA Universities. There was a discussion on different programs being implemented in Armenia by the Embassy, as well as, the program of the necessary medical treatment to the soldiers seriously disabled during the military operations to protect their Fatherland; with the initiative and support of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the Administration of St. Nazareth Church of Calcutta.
At the conclusion, His Holiness wished the Ambassador a productive mission in Armenia.
