His Holiness Karekin II Issues Pontifical Order

On August 25, 2003, upon the Pontifical Order of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, Fr. Mashtots Isayan, serving in the Diocese of Armavir, was relieved of his holy orders and considered to be defrocked. From this time forward, he shall be called by his baptismal name of Hayk Isayan, and shall be recognized as a member of the laity. The order is based upon his distortion of the Holy Sacrament of Baptism and disregard of the Pontifical Order prohibiting collective baptisms.
