His Holiness Karekin II Grants Certificates to Journalists
On February 2, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, granted certificates to journalists who had participated in introductory religion courses last year. The classes were organized by the Department of Information Services of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
During the months of July through November 2002, twenty two journalists representing various Armenian mass-media organizations, attended lectures on the Holy Bible, the ecumenical movement in Christian Churches, and the history, doctrine and ritual life of the Armenian Church. The journalists also were introduced to the educational and social programs of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. Throughout the duration of the classes, they visited various local Armenian Dioceses, historic churches and monasteries.
His Holiness welcomed the journalists to the Mother See, stating that he believed the classes were important and beneficial to the representatives of the press. He expressed hope that the classes would be continued in the future.
