His Holiness Karekin II Defrocks Rev. Fr. Mesrop Khunoyan and Rev. Fr. Petros Baghramyan

His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, has issued a Pontifical Order whereby Rev. Fr. Mesrop Khunoyan has been defrocked for willfully deserting his spiritual service.
By Pontifical Order, Rev. Fr. Petros Baghramyan, who served in the Diocese of Southern Russia, and was retired, then moved to the United States with his family, has also been defrocked for engaging in anti-canonical activities in the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America and conduct unbecoming of a clergyman.
As of this day, the defrocked clergymen are members of the laity and will be known by their baptismal names of Artur Khunoyan and Armen Baghramyan.
