German Pilgrims Visited Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin
On June 18, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received a group of Catholic and Protestant theologians and scientists from the University of Köln, Germany.
Mr. Matthias Kopp, leader of the group and Spokesman for the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Germany, expressed joy on the occasion of his regular visit to Armenia and the Mother See; and introduced the His Holiness to the pilgrims.
The Catholicos of All Armenians welcomed and conveyed his blessings to the pilgrims.
His Holiness stressed the importance of organizing ecumenical pilgrimages, emphasizing that such visits are welcome and inspiring, and would come to strengthen the relations between nations and Churches.
In his remarks, the Catholicos of All Armenians confirmed that the Armenian Church closely collaborates with other Churches, offering her contribution to the efforts to promote a peaceful coexistence of people and nations in the world.
At the conclusion, His Holiness wished the pilgrims a good visit to Armenia and assured them that during their time in Armenia, the pilgrims will surely feel the hospitable spirit of the Armenian people.
During the meeting, they also reflected on the Spiritual rebirth in Armenia and Diaspora, as well as the current activities of the Armenian Church in social, educational, and preaching spheres. His Holiness answered attendees questions concerning church-building, Armenian life, and the Armenian Church's peacekeeping mission in the settlement of the conflict in Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh).
The meeting was attended by His Grace Bishop Anushavan Jamkochyan, Dean of the Theological Faculty of Yerevan State University and Dean of the St. Gregory the Illuminator Mother Cathedral in Yerevan.
