Feast of the Universal Church of Holy Etchmiadzin
On June 2, the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church celebrated the Feast of the Universal Church of Holy Etchmiadzin.
On the occasion of the sacred day, the Brotherhood of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, under the leadership of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; attended the Divine Liturgy in the St. Gayane Monastery. The Celebrant was Proto-Archimandrite Zakaria Baghumyan, Director of the Christian Education Center of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
Attending the Divine Liturgy were Diocesan Primates who arrived at the Mother See, Bishops serving in various structures of Holy Etchmiadzin, Primates of Armenian dioceses and many Armenian pilgrims.
Referring to the sacrament of the feast, the Celebrant spoke about the significance of Holy Etchmiadzin and its role in the life of our nation: "Holy Etchmiadzin is the condensation and guardian of our national-Christian identity, which was established by the descent of the only Son, became Armenian by the feat of the Holy Translators, crystallized over the centuries in the soul and heart of our Armenians, becoming a pledge of immortality, a place of meeting between man and God, where time is timeless and heartfelt prayer audible.
To be faithful to the sacrament of Holy Etchmiadzin means to love our Motherland, the God-approved Armenian Church and believe in immortality, becoming the preachers of light, hope and love in this life," stated the Celebrant.
On the occasion of the feast, the Celebrant also congratulated His Holiness Karekin II, the Brotherhood of the Mother See and all believers, wishing that with the blessing of Holy Etchmiadzin we will be able to overcome all trials and challenges as soon as possible.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, under the leadership of the Catholicos of All Armenians a Republican Prayer was hold.
The faithful people and the clergymen offered a prayer to God for the brightness of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, steadfastness and perpetuation of its sacred mission.
