Feast of the Annunciation of the Holy Virgin Mary Celebrated in the Mother See
On April 7, the Feast of the Annunciation of the Holy Virgin Mary was solemnly celebrated in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, which by the order of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; was proclaimed as Blessing day of women expecting the joy of motherhood.
The celebrant was Very Rev. Fr. Zakaria Baghumyan, Director of the Bishops' Synod Office of Mother See.
During the Service, Fr. Zakaria delivered a sermon referring to the wonderment of the day, and noted the role of the Virgin Mary in the history of humanity. He also congratulated all women and mothers attending the Divine Liturgy, wishing them health and happiness and asked for the Virgin Mary's intercession for them.
“The Holy Virgin Mary is the example of a true mother, a person who is unconditionally obeying God’s will and is conscious of her mission. The Virgin Mary not only gave birth to the Savior of the world, but also suffered and felt pain, giving her only son for the salvation of mankind. Look, she did not hesitate and was not skeptical, but through her boundless humility showed that the will of God is above anything on earth.
Undoubtedly, if we also choose God's will over human will and various desires, then God will also make us like the Virgin Mary, an integral part of His mission”, stated Father Zakaria.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, a Blessing service was offered for the women expecting the joy of motherhood, and was led by His Grace Bishop Vardan Navasardyan, Director of the Christian Education Center of Mother See.
