Divine Liturgy of Episcopal Oath in the St. Gayane Monastery

Divine Liturgy of Episcopal Oath in the St. Gayane Monastery 14.05.2019

On May 14, with the blessings of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; His Grace Bishop Tiran Petrosyan, Central European and Swedish Pontifical Delegate, celebrated his first Episcopal "Divine Liturgy of Oath" in the St. Gayane Monastery.

The Divine Liturgy was attended by the Brotherhood of the Mother See; ecclesiastical and secular representatives from the Pontifical Delegation of Central Europe and Sweden; Bishop Emmanuel Aydin, spiritual pastor of the Austrian Syrian Orthodox Church; Dr. Hans Jurgen Föllner, Dean of the Chair of Rituals Theology and Theology boards of the Catholic Theology Faculty of the University of Vienna and Armenian pilgrims.

In his sermon Bishop Tiran spoke about the high and extremely responsible Episcopal title, noting that.

“ The Gospel clearly states that if we put ourselves in God's service, he performs miracles among us. … Indeed, we are also ready to put ourselves in the Lord's service. God can do miracles among us. Obviously, when without any doubts we trust in our God, He opens new horizons in our souls”, stressed Bishop Tiran, affirming that every day, every second God calls everyone, but not to receive, to take something but to give and give abundantly and the best In his remakrs, His Grace Bishop Tiran Petrosyan referred to the mystery and mission of the Holy Etchmiadzin and particularly stated: “People often say that Etchmiadzin has a mission: I have to edit a little and say, Etchmiadzin has no mission, Echmiadzin itself is a mission. Holy Etchmiadzin is the anchor of our nation, the core of our identity. But they ask why is it so? We have hundreds and thousands of wonderful monuments, temples, churches around the world where God lives, where we go to meet him. But Holy Etchmiadzin has a different meaning. Why is that so: because the Lord twice descended to the world, one to Jerusalem, and the other to Echmiadzin, because this place is this sacredness that chose the Son of God as a meeting place with his chosen people, Armenians. And due to this the mystery of Etchmiadzin is a great sanctity for us ”.

At the conclusion, Bishop Tiran expressed his gratitude to the Brotherhood of the Mother See, Department of the Grand Sacristan and spiritual educational institutions for having a great contribution in the creation of his spiritual image. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the pilgrims once again congratulated the Bishop on the occasion of his Episcopal ordination and consecration.
