Defense of Doctoral Thesis

On February 19, with the blessings of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; a defense of Doctoral Thesis was held in the Auditorium of Gevorkian Theological Seminary.
Rev. Fr. Archimandrite Shahe Ananyan, Director of the Inter-Church relations Department of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, defended his thesis titled: "The New Testament and Apocryphal Literature and Origin - theoretical basis of the apologist fathers ‘commentary principles (historical-theological analysis of primary sources)”, for the rank of Senior Archimandrite.
The defense opened with the Lord’s Prayer, then His Eminence Archbishop Yeznik Petrosyan, General Secretary of the Bible Society of Armenia; and Chairman of the Senior Doctoral Thesis Defense Committee made remarks. Archbishop Yeznik presented the Commission opinion on the scientific work.
His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of the External Relations and Protocol Department of the Mother See; His Grace Bishop Haigazoun Najarian, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Australia and New Zealand; and His Grace Bishop Vahan Hovhannisyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of France; made their observations concerning the work.
In turn, Father Shahe expressed gratitude to the committee members for their useful observations, reflected on the purpose and content of the work, and answered their questions.
I the conclusion, the examination committee accepted the defense and approved to grant Fr. Shahe the rank of Senior Archimandrite.
With the blessing of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, Rev. Fr. Shahe Ananyan will receive the rank of Senior Archimandrite during a service to be held in the St. Mesrop Mashtots Church of Oshakan.
