Catholicos of All Armenians Received the Representatives of the Defense Council of Ashot Minasyan in the Mother See

On January 24, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received the representatives of the Defense Council of the Chairman of the Diocesan Council of Syunik, Commander of “Sisakan” squad, Colonel Ashot Minasyan; led by Rev. Fr. Archimandrite Makar Hakobyan, Locum Tenens of the Diocese of Syunik. The representatives of the Council presented His Holiness the details of the legal prosecution proceedings against Mr. Ashot Minasyan, who is in custody; expressing their concerns over the incompatibility of his health condition with the detention. His Holiness, highly appreciating the patriotic and Church-loving activities of Mr. Minasyan, at the same time stated that the Church refrains from interfering in legal processes. The expectation of the Mother See is, that the proceedings will be conducted on the principles of impartiality and comprehensiveness, taking into account his health condition. The Armenian Pontiff also expressed his appreciation to the Defense Council for their humanitarian initiative. At the meeting, the Patriarch of All Armenians reflected on the challenges facing the country and the current situation; praying that with the Lord’s Blessings and national efforts, the problems that concern our people will be overcome.
