Catholicos of All Armenians Received the Representatives of the Catholic Near East Welfare Association 15.06.2021

On June 15, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; hosted Mr. Tovmas Vargenzen and Mr. Michael La Civitan, representatives of the Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA), accompanied by Rev. Fr. Archimandrite Narek Mnoyan, Assistant to the Primate of the Armenian Holy Church in Eastern Europe, Russia, Georgia and Armenia. At the meeting, Archimandrite Narek presented the guests to the Pontiff of All Armenians, providing information about the activities of their organization. During the conversation, they spoke about the ongoing humanitarian and social assistance provided to the children of the Armenian people who suffered the horrors of the Second War of Artsakh, in parallel with the soul-saving mission of different structures of the Armenian Church. In this regard, the Armenian Patriarch conveyed his appreciation to the representatives of the organization for providing assistance to the Armenian sons suffered from the war. His Holiness also reflected with gratitude to the support of various international structures to Armenia and Artsakh during this difficult period. His Holiness spoke about the current challenges, particularly drawing the attention of the guests to the fact of encroachments on the borders of Armenia, as well as to the brutal attitude towards the Armenian cultural heritage in the territories under the control of Azerbaijan. At the conclusion, the Pontiff of All Armenians answered the questions of those present regarding the efforts being made by the Mother See to return the Armenian captives, to help the wounded soldiers and displaced families.
