Catholicos of All Armenians Visited the Izmirlian Medical Center
On June 16, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; visited the Izmirlian Medical Center where he met with 15 soldiers who were injured during the April 2016 four-day war in Artsakh. He was accompanied by His Grace Bishop Hovnan Hakobyan, Grand Sacristan of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. At the request of His Holiness and at the invitation of the Orthopedic-trauma specialists of Germany's leading Ottobok Clinic of India, they underwent a medical examination to be fitted for prosthetics.
Attending the meeting were Rev. Fr. Movses Sarksyan, Armenian spiritual pastor of India; Warden Susan Reuben and Warden Sunil Sobti, board members of the Armenian Church Committee of the Armenian Holy Church of Nazareth of Calcutta.
Conveying his Pontifical blessings to the soldiers, His Holiness highly praised their service to the homeland and their heroic spirit. “You have devoted your life and have committed yourself to the defense of our country and to the sacred cause of our people’s safe life. May God bless you”, stated His Holiness.
Catholicos Karekin II noted that three years ago, the Mother See jointly with the Armenian Church Committee of the Armenian Holy Church of Nazareth of Calcutta, implemented the program in India to provide prosthetics for three disabled soldiers from Armenia. The plans are to fully implement this medical care in Armenia, which will provide this useful service to a greater number of soldiers.
The Catholicos of All Armenians also expressed his appreciation to the Armenian Church Committee of the Armenian Holy Church of Nazareth of Calcutta for undertaking this important commitment.
