Catholicos of All Armenians Receives the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia
n February 16, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Davit Tonoyan, the newly appointed Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia.
His Holiness congratulated him on his appointment and praised him on his useful service as the First Deputy of the Armenian Minister of Defense, and his unconditional devotion to the homeland and the people.
The Armenian Pontiff reflected on the comprehensive humanitarian and often selfless activities of the Emergency Situations staff, aimed at saving lives and ensuring safety in emergency situations. His Holiness offered blessings to the entire staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, noting appreciation for their dedicated, committed and zealous service.
During the meeting, His Holiness also spoke on the close cooperation between the different dioceses and institutions of the Armenian Church and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, noting the accomplishments. His Holiness also spoke on the joint programs implemented through the Armenia Round Table Charity Foundation, operating in the Dioceses of the Armenian Church and the Mother See. They provide humanitarian aid during various disasters and spiritual care to the injured, and His Holiness expressed a readiness to continue to support the Ministry's mission.
Minister Tonoyan detailed to His Holiness the problems facing the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the efforts being taken to find resolutions. The Minister also spoke about the future plans for the Ministry. Reflecting on the various measures undertaken by the ministry for the benefit of the population, the minister also highlighted the important role of the clergy in overcoming emergency situations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Catholicos Karekin II expressed his wish that the Minister serve a successful mission.
