Catholicos of All Armenians Receives Soldiers who Returned from the Treatment
On December 6, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received the 3 soldiers who were disabled during the military operations for the homeland defense. They have recently returned from India, completing treatment for the limb prosthesis. The program was initiated and supported by the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and Holy Nazareth Armenian Church of Calcutta.
Within this program, launched two years ago, this is the fourth group of soldiers who received medical treatment in India.
During the meeting, His Grace Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan, Head Chaplain of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia; presented His Holiness the treatment process of the soldiers. In turn, the soldiers expressed their gratitude to the Catholicos of All Armenians for organizing their treatment in India, stressing that the fact that the Armenian Church is always with the Armenian soldier with its blessings and support, grants them more strength and power. They also highlighted the hospitality and warm friendly atmosphere displayed by the administration and discipleship of the Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy of Calcutta.
Then, His Holiness Karekin II conveyed his blessings to the Homeland defenders and asked about their health, treatment efficiency and their living conditions in India. His Holiness noted with satisfaction that through this program the Armenian servicemen can regain the spirit of their hope and optimism and continue their service to the homeland.
His Holiness informed that the Mother See will continue this program, bringing its usefulness to the soldiers wounded in military actions.
On this occasion, the Catholicos of All Armenians expressed his appreciation to Bishop Vrtanes, as well as to Rev. Fr. Movses Sarkisian, Spiritual Pastor of India and manager of the Academy, Warden Sunil Sobti and Warden Susan Reuben.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Catholicos of All Armenians blessed the soldiers through the “Protector” prayer, asking God to keep the Homeland in peace and grant a safe service to the soldiers.
