Catholicos of All Armenians Receives Chairman of the OSCE Election Observation Mission
On March 30, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Ignacio Sanchez Amor, Chairman of the short-term Election Observation Mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). He was accompanied by Mr. Artashes Geghamian, Deputy of the National Assembly of Armenia; and Mr. Avet Adonts, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentary of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of Spain.
During the meeting, Mr. Sanchez Amor expressed joy on the occasion of his visit to the spiritual center of All Armenians, stressing that it completes his visit to Armenia and gives an opportunity to know both Armenia and the Armenian people.
His Holiness conveyed his blessings and appreciation to the attendees. Welcoming them, His Holiness expressed gratitude to the OSCE for the efforts exerted by the Minsk Group for the resolution of the conflict in Nagorno Karabakh.
His Holiness also expressed appreciation for the observation mission led by Mr. Amor, expressing confidence that the mission's work will contribute to the successful holding of Armenia’s parliamentary elections on April 2.
During the meeting, in response to Mr. Sanchez Amor, the Catholicos of All Armenians reflected on the historical mission of the Armenian Apostolic Church in the life of the Armenians, the preservation of national identity and culture, and the current activities in different spheres of Armenian life.
They particularly spoke about the pastoral activities implemented by the Church; the educational and social programs, as well as clergy preparation.
Attending the meeting was His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of the External Relations and Protocol Department of Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
