Catholicos of All Armenians Received the Newly Appointed Governor of Shirak 10.03.2016

On March 10, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Hovsep Simonyan, the newly appointed governor of Shirak and His Grace Bishop Michael Ajapahyan, Primate of the Diocese of Shirak.

During the meeting, the Supreme Patriarch congratulated the Governor on the appointment, 
wishing him success in his mission. His Holiness added that it’s a difficult mission to be the governor of Shirak, as the devastating consequences of the earthquake have still not been eliminated in the region.

His Holiness noted with satisfaction that Bishop Michael is participating in social programs, aimed at the resolution of the regional population’s problems, and serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Gyumri Without Homes Program.

Governor Simonyan expressed hope that with the blessings of His Holiness and the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, he will be able to perform his duties more effectively. He also spoke about the warm and cooperative relations between the Regional Administration and the Diocese, and expressed his willingness to support the patriotic mission of the Armenian Church.

At the conclusion, His Holiness expressed his wish that under God's blessing, the Governor of Shirak carry-out his duties with honor and glory.

During the meeting, they reflected on the social problems of the region, and as well as on the spiritual life and church-building programs.
