Catholicos of All Armenians Received the Delegation of the Bishop’s Conference of the Catholic Church of Germany
On May 12, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received members of the Bishop’s Conference of the Catholic Church of Germany. They were accompanied by Bishop Feige, Chairman of the Ecumenical Committee of the Bishop's Conference and Primate of Magdeburg. The delegation of the Bishops' Co nference arrived at the Mother See at the invitation of the Catholicos of All Armenians.
The Delegation was accompanied by His Grace Bishop Serovbe Isakhanyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Germany and Very Rev. Fr. Shahe Ananyan, Chairman of the Ecumenical Relations Department of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
Bishop Serovbe presented the guests to His Holiness and referred to the cooperation between the Bishop’s Conference of the Catholic Church of Germany and the Armenian Diocese in Germany and informed about the readiness to deepen the relations with the Armenian Church. Afterwards, His Holiness expressed his satisfaction on the occasion of the visit, joyfully recording the close connections between the Armenian Apostolic and Catholic Churches and the broad and meaningful involvement of the cooperation. His Holiness confirmed that the Mother See cooperates with various Catholic Church organizations and a number of charity organizations in Germany. In this regard, His Holiness expressed his appreciation to the Bishop’s Conference of the Catholic Church of Germany for the provided support due to which a number of members of the Brotherhood of the Mother See had the opportunity to receive their Theological higher education at the Catholic universities of Germany.
In turn, Bishop Feige conveyed His Holiness the warm greetings and best wishes of Archbishop Reinhard Marx of the Catholic Church and Chairman of the German Bishops' Conference. Bishop Feige highlighted the deepening and development of the relationship between the two Churches in different spheres. He confirmed that the friendly ties between the German Catholic Church and the Armenian Diocese of Germany are continuously strengtheni
Reflecting on the terrible crime of the Armenian Genocide, the Bishop informed His Holiness that the delegation will visit Tsitsernakaberd to pay tribute to the memory of the innocent victims of the Genocide.
During the meeting the Catholicos of All Armenians presented the achievements of the past decades of the Armenian Church in the fields of clergy training, Christian education, Church social service and church building, also answered to questions of the members of the delegation concerning the restoration of monastic life and preaching of the Gospel in the society.
In the coming days, the delegation will visit various structures of the Armenian Church, to get acquainted with the large-scale activities of the Armenian Church, will also be in some sanctuaries of Armenia.
