Catholicos of All Armenians Received the Delegation from Austria
On May 12, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received the delegation of His Grace Bishop Tiran Petrosyan, Patriarchal Delegate of Central Europe and Sweden, arrived to Armenia from Austria on the occasion of the Episcopal ordination and consecration. The Delegation consists of "Pro Oriente" church organization members, clergymen of Austrian Catholic and Syriac Orthodox Churches, representatives of the Department of Catholic Theology of the Vienna State University as well as representatives of various state structures.
During the meeting, His Holiness noted with satisfaction that the Armenian Church has a close relationship with the Austrian ecclesiastical, ecumenical and inter-governmental organizations and contributes to their further development and strengthening. The Catholicos of All Armenians stressed the cooperation formed between the Mother See and the "Pro Oriente" Church Organization.
His Holiness expressed confidence that through the efforts of the Pontifical Delegate of Central Europe and Sweden, the relations between the Armenian Church and Austria's church structures will be intensified and developed.
During the meeting, His Holiness conveyed appreciation to the Austrian authorities for the adopted policy relating the Armenian Genocide recognition and condemnation and the support provided to the Armenian people.
His Holiness Karekin II also spoke about the Christian faith in the life of the Armenian people and the important role of the Armenian Church, stressing that throughout history, the Armenian people have overcome many trials and difficulties through his powerful faith, building his national life and progress.
