Catholicos of All Armenians Received the Delegation from Argentina
On April 30, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received the delegation of Argentine consisting of public figures, journalists, lawyers and businessmen, accompanied by Argentinian-Armenian businessman Juan Pablo Gechichyan.
Mr. Gechichyan, introducing the guests to His Holiness, informed that the members of the delegation arrived in Armenia with the aim of getting to know the Armenian people, their culture, religion, history and spiritual values.
His Holiness, conveying his blessings to those attendees, emphasized with gratitude that the relations between the two countries are characterized by close friendship and that Argentina has always supported the Armenian people in difficult situations. The Catholicos of All Armenians gratefully noted that after the Armenian Genocide, the Armenians who escaped from the Genocide took refuge in Argentina, were able to reorganize their national-spiritual life, and as worthy citizens made their important contribution to the country's life, enjoying the love and respect of the people and authorities of Argentina.
During the meeting, the Armenian Patriarch also referred to the current situation in the region, conveying information to the Argentinians about the beginning of the Karabakh conflict, the ongoing encroachment by Azerbaijan against the Armenians of Artsakh and the sovereign territories of Armenia after the 44-day war, the blocking of the Lachin Corridor and the resulting humanitarian crisis in Artsakh, as well as regarding the facts of the destruction of historical, cultural and spiritual values in the territories passed under the control of Azerbaijan.
The Patriarch of All Armenians also answered the guests' questions regarding the inter-church relations and the steps taken by the spiritual heads of the Sister Churches in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
