Catholicos of All Armenians Received Representatives Victory Commander's Remembrance Foundation
On May 14, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received representatives of Victory Commander's Remembrance Foundation descendants of and World War II commanders. They were accompanied by members of the Union of Armenians of Russia. Mrs. Lusik Ghukasyan, first Vice-President of the Union of Armenians of Russia and Chairman of the Victory Commander’s Foundation Mrs. Natalya Koneva, introduced the group members to the Catholicos of All Armenians, in which were the descendants of Marshal Hovhannes Baghramyan and Marshal Hamazasp Babajanyan. They referred to the the Foundation's mission and its implemented programs. Then, His Holiness Karekin II, conveyed his blessings and appreciation to the Foundation members, welcoming the fund's activities for the glorification of the heroes who created victory. His Holiness noted the importance of all the steps due to which the memory of the heroic victims of the World War II and the warriors will last forever. The Armenian Patriarch emphasized that the memory is sacred and cherished and it should be kept and forwarded to the future generations. His Holiness also touched upon the important role of the Armenian people in the war, as well as the efforts of the Armenian Church in support of the Army, as a result of which the "Sasoun of Davit" tank columns were created. Talking about the centuries-long friendship between the Armenian and Russian people, the Catholicos of All Armenians mentioned that the victory recorded during the World War II further strengthened that brotherhood. His Holiness expressed confidence that such initiatives, as the Fund's initiative should further deepen the existing warm relations. At the conclusion, His Holiness wished that the two people continue to strengthen their relationship with the same spirit.
