Catholicos of All Armenians Received Representatives of the French Daily “La Croix” - Catholic Newspaper
On April 6, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received a group of representatives of “La Croix”, a daily French Roman Catholic Newspaper. They were accompanied by Dn. Sahak Sukiasian, who serves at the St. John the Baptist Armenian Church in Paris; and Frédéric Mounier, a member of the general editorial board.
Welcoming the pilgrimage of the friendly people to Armenia and to the Spiritual Center of All Armenians, the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin; the Catholicos of All Armenians offered his blessings and appreciation, noting the centuries-old friendship between the Armenian and French people.
His Holiness commented that following in the steps of Pope Francis, the Catholic pilgrims visit Armenia, the first Christian nation, and learn about her Christian culture and spiritual-national values. The Armenian Pontiff stressed the importance of pilgrimages, noting that they greatly contribute to the strengthening of ecumenical relations and mutual recognition of different people.
In his remarks, His Holiness referred to the important role of the Armenian Apostolic Church in the life of the Armenians; challenges facing the Church and people, and the efforts to overcome them.
During the meeting, Mr. Frédéric Mounier presented His Holiness the activities of the daily newspaper, stressing that the daily newspaper staff is putting every effort into the promotion of dialogue between different peoples to form an atmosphere of confidence, mutual respect and tolerance. On behalf of the group, expressing gratitude to His Holiness for the warm words and blessing, Mr. Mounier also spoke on the unforgettable impressions of their visit to Armenia.
At the conclusion, the Catholicos of All Armenians prayed that Almighty God strengthens the love for each other of nations and peoples.
