Catholicos of All Armenians Received Rector of the Peter Pazmany Catholic University of Hungary
On March 27, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Suromi Sabolch, Rector of the Peter Pazmany Catholic University of Hungary, and a group of students. They were accompanied by Mr. Rouben Mirzakhanyan, Rector of the Armenian State Pedagogical University.
Expressing gratitude to His Holiness for receiving them, Mr. Mirzakhanyan stated that this is a testimony to the great attention being paid to the education of the younger generation by the Catholicos of All Armenians. The Rector referred to the friendly relations established between the two Universities, informing His Holiness that bilateral agreements have been signed. Mr. Mirzakhanyan also presented the large-scale activities of the Department of Armenian Studies opened at the Peter Pazmany Catholic University.
Rector Sabolch expressed gratitude for the caring attitude and the vivid impressions, noting they are very happy to visit the spiritual center of all Armenians and meet with the Armenian Pontiff during Holy Week.
At the conclusion, His Holiness Karekin II conveyed his Pontifical message to the attendees. His Holiness emphasized that it is pleasant to see the results of the close cooperation established a few years ago. The Armenian Pontiff added that these warm relationships are nourished from the centuries-old traditions of the two peoples.
During the meeting His Holiness spoke on the preparation of Armenian clergy and their education abroad, expressing confidence that among the foreign universities will also be the Peter Pazmany Catholic University in the near future. His Holiness also highlighted that during their visit Rector Sabolch has inspired the Gevorgyan Theological Seminary administration, teaching staff and students with his presence.
The meeting was attended by His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of External Relations and Protocol Department of Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and Rev. Fr. Karekin Hambardzumian, Dean of the Gevorgyan Theological Seminary.
