Catholicos of All Armenians Received Presidential Candidate Dr. Armen Sargsyan

On February 17, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Dr. Armen Sargsyan, Presidential candidate of Armenia.
Dr. Sargsyan, who was just recently nominated to the Presidency by the Republican Party of Armenia, spoke to the Catholicos of All Armenians about the political parties, scientific and educational institutions, representatives of various non-governmental organizations, meetings with the leadership of the Artsakh Republic, as well as visits to different Diaspora communities. He also informed His Holiness that he had accepted the proposed nomination by the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) for Armenia’s presidential candidate and asked for the blessings of the Catholicos of All Armenians.
Welcoming the important decision taken by Dr. Sargsyan, His Holiness expressed confidence that his candidacy would be well received both in the native land and in the Diaspora. His Holiness informed Dr. Sargsyan that he had been following those meetings through the mass media in recent days. The Armenian Pontiff stressed that Dr. Sargsyan's personality is well known to the Armenian people as a statesman who has served his country for many years under various circumstances, and as a philanthropist and benefactor of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, whose patriotic and church-building projects have made an important contribution to the welfare of the Armenian people.
During the meeting His Holiness and Dr. Sargsyan reflected on the challenges facing the homeland and the steps needed to overcome them.
Attending the meeting were His Grace Bishop Arshak Khachatryan, Chancellor of Mother See and His Grace Bishop Moushegh Babayan, Director of Administrative Department of Mother See.
