Catholicos of All Armenians Received Pontifical Scholarship Recipients
On April 10, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received three students of Armenian Universities who were presented with a Pontifical Scholarship this year. They were accompanied by Mr. Levon Mkrtchyan, Minister of Education and Science; and His Grace Bishop Vardan Navasardyan, Director of the Chrisitan Education Center.
For their high-marks achieved during the school semester, scholarships were awarded to Syuzanna Israelyan (Yerevan State University, 4th year Bachelor student); Gohar Manookian (Yerevan State M. Heratsi Medical University 2nd year student) and Ani Mkrtchyan (Yerevan State Komitas Conservatory 1st year Bachelor student).
During the meeting, Bishop Vardan presented the student recipients and asked for the blessings of His Holiness.
His Holiness conveyed his blessings and appreciation to the students, congratulating them on their achieved progress in education and urged them to continue their studies with the same spirit, devotion and zeal.
“It’s a joy for us that the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin has received such an opportunity by the Ministry of Education and Science, so that the Mother See can make a small contribution in the field of higher education.
This has a special meaning for the Mother See, to support students who have achieved the best results during the academic year and convey them the blessings of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin”, stated His Holiness expressing his appreciation to Minister Mkrtchyan for the effective collaboration between the Ministry and Armenian Apostolic Holy Church.
In his remarks, Catholicos Karekin II reflected on the importance of education and urged the Scholarship recipients to complete their education not only to ensure their character and personal welfare but through their knowledge and skills to become involved in shaping their country's progress and prosperity of the people.
In turn, Mr. Levon Mkrtchyan expressed his deepest gratitude to His Holiness, stressing that a good tradition has been started which is very inspiring and memorable for students receiving scholarships.
