Catholicos of All Armenians Received Newly Appointed Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Armenia
On May 27, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. John Gallagher, newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Armenia. The Pontiff of All Armenians conveyed his best wishes to Ambassador Gallagher for a fruitful mission. At the meeting, the Catholicos of All Armenians reflected on the Second War of Artsakh and its severe consequences. His Holiness also noted the appropriate response and assessment of the international community in overcoming the current challenges and the provocative actions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border these days. In particular, they touched upon the issue of the return of the Armenian prisoners of war to the homeland. Issues related to the barbaric attitude towards the spiritual and historical-cultural heritage of the Diocese of Artsakh, in the territories under the control of Azerbaijan, and the falsification of the ownership of the Armenian sanctuaries, were also discussed. His Holiness expressed hope that the international community will make every effort to promote the urgent resolution of the problems and to ensure the peace in the region.
