Catholicos of All Armenians Received Mayor of Södertälje, Sweden

On April 24, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received Mrs. Boel Godner, Mayor of Södertälje.
During the meeting, they reflected on the role of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, in the life of the Armenian people, particularly in the preservation of the national values and identity. His Holiness confirmed that the Armenian nation was able to withstand numerous trials through its unshakable and powerful faith.
In turn, the Mayor of Södertälje stated that this is her first visit to Armenia, which was aimed at paying tribute to the Armenian Genocide victims.
Mrs. Boel Godner also conveyed information to His Holiness about the activities of the Armenian community in the city, stressing that Armenians occupy an important place in the city's administrative, economic and public life. Mrs. Boel mentioned that the first Armenian church in Scandinavia was built in Södertälje, where there are the greatest number of Christian communities.
The Catholicos of All Armenians expressed his appreciation to the Swedish authorities for their caring attitude towards the Armenian community, as well as for recognizing and condemning the Armenian Genocide.
During the meeting, they also referred to the difficulties faced by the Christian communities in the Middle East and the emigration of Christians.
