Catholicos of All Armenians Received Mayor of Shaghvio Shavanio, France

On June 11, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Gerard Desham, Mayor of Shaghvio Shavanio, France and his delegation. They were accompanied by Mr. Karen Grigoryan, Mayor of Etchmiadzin.
The Catholicos of All Armenians expressed his joy on the occasion of the cooperation between Shaghvio Shavanio and Etchmiadzin and wished that the ties between the two cities strengthen.
The Catholicos was pleased to note that the close relations between the Armenian community of Shaghvio Shavanio and the municipality, contributes to the strengthening of the Armenian-French relations. His Holiness stated that the General Assembly of the Francophonie International Organization, to be held in Armenia in 2018, is the best evidence of that warm relationship.
Mayor Desham expressed his gratitude to His Holiness for the attention and care displayed towards the Armenian residents of their city and the Armenian Church. The Mayor also warmly reflected on his previous visit to the Mother See and the important influence of this in his life.
At the conclusion, His Holiness asked for God's blessing and protection for the welfare of the two friendly peoples.
