Armenian Apostolic Holy Church The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

On November 05, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received the Head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Armenia, the EU Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin.

The Pontiff of All Armenians, congratulating the EU Ambassador on her appointment, wished her success in her mission.

Stressing the importance of the cooperation formed between the European Union and Armenia, His Holiness expressed hope that it will prosper via new achievements and will promote to the progress of the Republic of Armenia.

The Catholicos of All Armenians emphasized that the relations formed between the Armenian Apostolic Church and the EU can produce positive results as they are anchored on humanitarian and Christian principles.

The Pontiff of All Armenians also welcomed the implementation of various educational programs and initiatives in Armenia  by the EU. On this occasion, His Holiness affirmed that improvement in the sphere of education has great importance for the Armenian Church, and as in the past, now it also will continue its contribution to the development of this field being based on the Christian value system.

Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Mrs. Andrea Wiktorin noted, that she is happy to be in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin again and assured His Holiness Karekin II that the EU is ready to support the ongoing reformations in Armenia and continue her assistance for strengthening of the democratic processes in the country. During the meeting, the Ambassador reflected on the EU Delegation’s efforts made in the preservation, spread of universal values and protection of Human Rights also expecting the support of the Armenian Church concerning those issues.

During the conversation, both sides reflected on the importance of the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, discussed the ways to overcome the problems existing in  Armenia.
