Catholicos of All Armenians Received Governor of Vologda

On December 18, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Oleg Kuvshinnikov, Governor of Vologda, Russia, and his delegation. They were accompanied by Mr. Ashot Ghahramanyan, Governor of Armavir and Mr. Hrayr Karapetyan, Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Saint Petersburg.
Mr. Ghamhramanyan presented to His Holiness the details of the close cooperation between the Armavir regional administration and the Government of Vologda region, in different spheres and the prospects for further development of relations.
Welcoming the cooperation of the two regions, His Holiness conveyed his blessings and best wishes to the Governors and wished success to the projects planned. The Catholicos of All Armenians noted that such interstate cooperation gives a new impetus to the centuries-old friendship and warm relations between the two people.
Governor Kuvshinnikov expressed his gratitude for the meeting and presented to the Catholicos of All Armenians the Vologda region and the economic and cultural achievements recorded in recent years. The Governor also highlighted the active role of the Armenian community in the region.
Referring to the life of the Armenian community of the region, the Governor informed His Holiness that an Armenian cultural center operates in the region, a Sunday school was opened, and spoke about the Armenian church construction project.
His Holiness noted with satisfaction that the first steps have already been taken for the construction project; the Church complex plan has been approved by the Mother See. His Holiness expressed his appreciation to Governor Kuvshinnikov for the sincere support shown to the Armenian community of Vologda, through Armenians will also have their own prayer houses in the coming years.
At the conclusion of the meeting, His Holiness wished that God keep the brotherly relations between the two nations warm and firm and the ties between the provinces successful with beautiful new achievements.
