Catholicos of All Armenians Received Former Deputy Prime Minister of Autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan Region

On June 21, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Sarkis Aghajani, Finance Minister and Former Deputy Prime Minister of autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan region. He was accompanied by His Eminence Archbishop Avag Asaturyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Iraq.
During the meeting, His Holiness expressed his gratitude to the guest for providing support and safe shelter to Christians of different nationalities, including Armenians, during hard times.
His Holiness extended his private appreciation to Mr. Aghajani, for sponsoring the construction of the Armenian Church of St. Nerses the Graceful in Dohk and the Armenian Havresk settlement and, as well as for improving the territory of the Armenian newly built St. Khach Church in Erbil.
In turn, Mr. Sarkis Aghajan, expressed gratitude to His Holiness for the warm reception, assured that he will continue to bring his usefulness and support to the Christian communities of Iraq. He also conveyed information to His Holiness about the current situation of Christians living in Iraq.
At the conclusion of the meeting, His Holiness wished Mr. Aghajani to continue his pious and productive activity under God's protection.
