Catholicos of All Armenians Received Ambassador of Egypt to the Republic of Armenia
On April 19, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Ahmed Tariq Ibrahim Maaty, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of Armenia.
During the meeting, His Holiness expressed his condolences to the Ambassador, for the attacks in Egypt on April 9, which killed many citizens. Expressing solidarity with the Egyptian people on behalf of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, His Holiness condemned the crime and expressed hope that no further acts of terrorism will take place in Egypt and that the centuries-old traditions of peaceful coexistence will continue to be maintained between different ethnic and religious communities.
His Holiness also expressed his appreciation to the Ambassador for his activities aimed at developing and strengthening the Armenian-Egyptian relations.
Ambassador Maaty, expressing deep gratitude to His Holiness for the words of support, introduced the challenges facing the country and the steps taken by the Egyptian authorities to overcome them. The Ambassador conveyed His Holiness the greetings and best wishes of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II of the Coptic Orthodox Church.
The Catholicos of All Armenians and the Ambassador also spoke about the Armenian community of Egypt and its important role in the development of Armenian-Egyptian relations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, His Holiness conveyed his blessings and best wishes to the Ambassador and the people of Egypt, wishing them peaceful and prosperous life.
The meeting was attended by His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of the External relations and Protocol Department of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
