Catholicos of All Armenians Received a Group of French Doctors Who were in Armenia on a Humanitarian Mission 04.12.2020

On December 04, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; hosted a group of French doctors, who were in Armenia on a humanitarian mission, accompanied by Rev. Fr. Archimandrite Grigor Khachatryan, Locum Tenens of the Armenian Diocese in France.

Dr. Leon Khachatryan, who was responsible for the mission, informed His Holiness about the results of the visit of the third group of doctors from France within the framework of the mission aimed at the humanitarian and medical aid during the Artsakh war, the programs aimed at healing the injured soldiers, and the cooperation established for that purpose.

The Catholicos of All Armenians highly appreciated the honest commitment of the French doctors, noting that such humanitarian programs are of great benefit, and could be a great support to Armenian doctors in the treatment of wounded soldiers.

On the occasion of the meeting, His Holiness expressed his gratitude to the French authorities, in particular to President Emanuel Macron, for the significant support shown to the people of Artsakh since the first days of the war. The Armenian Pontiff highly appreciated the attention and respect shown by the French people to the Armenian people and Armenia.

In their turn, the French doctors expressed their gratitude to His Holiness for His Pontifical Blessings and appreciation. Then, the existing needs and requirements were discussed, a reference was made to the steps taken by the Armenian Church towards those issues, in particular, the limb prosthetics program being implemented with the joint efforts of the Mother See and Holy Nazareth Armenian Church of Calcutta, in recent years. The importance of the organization of such kinds of programs with the involvement of the various humanitarian organizations was emphasized, to enable the servicemen to return to civilian life. In this process, the necessity of organizing psychological work with the patients and the involvement of the Church was emphasized.

At the conclusion, the Armenian Patriarch prayed for peace, asking the Heavenly God that no nation and people will experience such pain and tragedy as a consequence of a catastrophic war.
