Catholicos of All Armenians Offers Appreciation to the Volunteers of the Happy New Year on the Border Project
On January 14th, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received the volunteers who participated in the Happy New Year on the Border Project. The project was implemented in December 2015, and organized by the Social Services Department of the Mother See.
At the beginning of the meeting, Rev. Fr. Markos Mangasaryan, Director of the Social Services Department, presented the results of the project, sressing that besides distributing gifts to the border villages of the Tavush region, the initiative was important in the spiritual sense. It provided people an opportunity to show love and care for each other. Rev. Fr. Markos also stressed the significance of the involvement of the over eighty young volunteers in the project implementation, including representatives from the Support of People With Special Needs Unison NGO.
Then, His Holiness Karekin II conveyed his blessings to the attendees.
His Holiness extended his gratitude that the children of Armenia have a great sense of responsibility and readiness to implement humanitarian and patriotic deeds, which in the belief of His Holiness, will serve as a good example for the youth.
His Holiness stated in part, that the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, true to its mission, will continue to be an advocate to the children in need through social services, and also support the soldiers who are devotedly defending the homeland border.
His Holiness added that the implementation of such projects also raises spirits, and feelings of humanity and charity; teaching the Armenian sons and daughters to contribute a part of their earnings for the the poor and the needy.
At the conclusion, the Catholicos of All Armenians expressed his appreciation to Father Markos, the project officers and the volunteers, encouraging them to continue their participation in charitable programs.
The meeting was also attended by His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of the External Relations and Protocol Department of the Mother See.
