Catholicos of All Armenians Met with Mothers and Widows of Killed Soldiers
On April 19, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; met with mothers and widows of soldiers killed during the conflict in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
His Grace Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan, Head Chaplain of the Republic of Armenia Armed Forces; introduced the women in attendance. The Catholicos of All Armenians conveyed his blessings and welcomed their visit to Holy Etchmiadzin.
The Armenian Pontiff conveyed his sentiments to the mothers and widows of the soldiers, wishing them the comfort of the Holy Spirit. His Holiness stated that each Armenian has regrets for their loss, but also realizes that the heroic Armenian soldiers gave their lives for the peaceful and secure life of the Homeland, people and families.
“Our Holy Church always prays for her children who sacrificed their lives for the Homeland. The giving of one’s life is a personal sacrifice for the Homeland. That's how our people have lived and survived over the centuries. Be assured, that their memory will always live in the hearts of our people, and the people will always offer their respect to the immortal memory of her valiant sons”, noted His Holiness.
His Holiness added that the extraordinary responsiveness and patriotism displayed by the Armenian soldiers for the defense of the Homeland defense, creates a sense of pride.
At the conclusion, the Catholicos of All Armenians offered prayers for the peace of the souls of the soldiers killed, blessed their mothers and widows, and wished them strength and resolve.
