Catholicos of All Armenians Met With His Eminence Leonardo Sandri

On October 08, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; met with His Eminence Leonardo Sandri, Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches, in Vatican.Welcoming the Pontiff of All Armenians, Cardinal Sandri emphasized the importance of the meeting of His Holiness with Pope Francis, noting that the meeting of the Pontiffs of the Sister Churches will further strengthen the fraternal relations between the two churches.
During the meeting, a reference was made to the catastrophic consequences of the 44-day War of Artsakh, as well as the challenges in Armenia and the region in the post-war period.
Speaking about the situation in the countires of the Middle East, His Holiness informed that about 15,000 Armenians had been deplaced and found refuge in Armenia.
In turn, Cardinal Sandri stated that Armenia has a significant both in geopolitical terms, and in the Christian world.
