Catholicos of All Armenians Met Former German President Joachim Gauck 20.10.2017

On October 19, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; had an official meeting with Mr. Joachim Gauck, former President of the Federal Republic of Germany within the framework of the commemoration events dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in Europe.

His Holiness was accompanied by His Eminence Archbishop Karekin Bekdjian,

Patriarchal Vicar of the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople; His Grace Bishop Armash Nalbandian, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Damascus, and Rev. Fr. Serovbe Isakhanyan, Vicar of the Armenian Diocese of Germany.

His Holiness expressed his gratitude on the occasion of the meeting with the former German President who made a significant contribution to the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide in the German Bundestag.

His Holiness also presented Mr. Gauck a brief summary of the Armenian people's spiritual revival following independence, and the achievements of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, as well as the activities of the Armenian Church in the ecumenical and interreligious spheres.

During the meeting, they emphasized the spiritual and cultural significance of Christian values and loyalty towards them inside the life of the societies.
