Catholicos of All Armenians Gave Instructions Regarding the Situation in Artsakh
On September 28, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; hosted the Bishops and Diocesan Primates of the Armenian Church, interrupting His pontifical visit to Italy and returning to the Homeland.
The meeting was opened with the Lord's Prayer and the Protector’s Prayer of the Armenian Pontiff.
Firstly, the reports were presented to His Holiness regarding the current situation in Artsakh and the military operations along the entire Artsakh-Azerbaijan line of contact.
In His turn, the Pontiff of All Armenians, conveyed information about the meeting with His Holiness Pope Francis held in the Vatican City, on September 27, reflected on the telephone conversations with the governors of Armenia and Artsakh, on the same day.
His Holiness informed the Pontiffs of the Sister Churches, the religious leaders and governors of a number of countries, as well as, the heads of international and inter-church organizations about the Nagorno-Karabakh clashes to deliver massages concerning the military operations unleashed by Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the steps that the structures of the Mother See and the Dioceses are going to take relating the current situation in support of Artsakh and the Armenian Army, were discussed.
The massage of His Holiness will be conveyed to the Diocesan Primates to provide special pastoral care towards the mourning families of the soldiers who bravely died on the battlefield, organize visits of the clergy to the hospitals to see the wounded soldiers and their families. The importance of the encouragement and support of the spiritual pastors of the dioceses to the volunteer groups enlisting and leaving for Artsakh was emphasized. A call will also be delivered to the Diocesan Primates in the Diaspora to properly support to the Fatherland.
On September 29, at 17:00, in the St. Gayane Monastery, a Prayer for the Republic will be offered for the peace and consistency of our Fatherland: Armenia and Artsakh.
