Catholicos of All Armenians Extends Condolences to Family of Charles Aznavour 01.10.2018
On October 1, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; sent a letter of condolence to the family of Charles Aznavour, National Hero of the Republic of Armenia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenian to the Swiss Confederation, and world-famous singer, songwriter, and actor.

“It was painful for us to hear the news of the death of the great and talented Armenian.

Dreadful is the loss of the worthy Armenian, who distinguished and glorified the honor and dignity of the native people with his fame, grace, extraordinary art and his unmatched performances on popular stages in different countries of the world.

Today, comforted, we reflect that the late Charles Aznavour has always been with Armenia with his whole heart and soul and was proud of his national identity. Aznavour sang about our people's pain with many famous singers during the devastating earthquake that struck our people and made wholehearted efforts to bring aid to Armenia. His well-known songs are also dedicated to Armenia and the holy martyrs of the Armenian Genocide which again reveals the patriotic spirit of the great Armenian.

Charles Aznavour's death is a loss for the whole world, because he is also the child of all mankind with his world recognition and importance; a child they knew and loved, and for whom they pray everywhere today. We raise our prayers for the peace of the soul of the great Armenian.

Charles Aznavour left us his bright image, wonderful songs, love, and kindness; and completing his earthly journey, continues his course of existence to eternity and everlasting life”, said the letter of condolence of His Holiness.
