On December 12, from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; conveyed his Blessings and congratulations to His Beatitude Bishop Sahak Mashalyan on his election as the Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople.
Mr. Khachik Tchanel, Chairman of the National Parliamentary Assembly of the election of the 85th Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople, and Secretary Aret Qarapulut have officially notified to the Pontiff of All Armenians about the results of the meeting and asked the prayer and Blessings of His Holiness for the newly appointed Armenian Patriarch.
In his Congratulatory message the Catholicos of All Armenians states:
“Your Beatitude,
We were pleased to inform, that the assembly convened in Constantinople, by a majority of votes, has elected You as the Armenian 85th Patriarch of Constantinople.
We greet with boundless joy and congratulate Your election, conveying our fraternal love and support to Your Excellency. We are glad, that after a long break, the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople was endowed with a new Patriarch.
Being born and raised in the traditional Armenian Community living in Istanbul, since childhood, You have been educated and brought up with the love towards God, the Church and Nation, which are the characteristics of our faithful people in Constantinople.
With gratitude we remember, when several years ago, kneeling in front of the Holy Altar of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, You were called to the bishopric and continued Your God-willing service as the Dean of the Gevorkian Theological Seminary. Indeed, the years You spent in the Mother See, were valued with productive activity. Due to your spiritual, theological and educational knowledge, we have had a new generation of seminarians, who serve in our Holy Church today.
We pray to Almighty God to grant You strength and power to assume the spiritual mission of the Hierarchical See of our Holy Church – the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople with wisdom and high responsibility, for the brightness of our Holy Church and consolation of the children of our faithful people in Constantinople. May the Lord help and support You granting you welfare and success in Your spiritual service.
We are looking forward to your first visit to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin as a newly-elected Patriarch of Constantinople”.
