Catholicos of All Armenians Receives General Secretary of "Act Alliance”

HH Karekin II Received General Secretary of “ACT”

On June 22, in Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received John Nduna, General Secretary of ACT Alliance – “Churches Acting Together”. He was accompanied by Dr. Karen Nazarian, director of the World Council of Churches Armenia Round Table Foundation. ACT Alliance has 131 members in 140 countries and is expanding their activities in emergency situations, as well as in social and development fields.

His Holiness welcomed Mr. Nduna’s visit to Armenia and to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, then offered his praise of the organization, for the cooperation with the Round Table Foundation and Armenian branch of the organization in Armenia, as well as for the social assistance support for various problems in emergency situations. His Holiness stressed the importance of Churches cooperating in different sectors, which contributes to global efforts and strengthens individual Churches and their faithful, serving as a good example of brotherly love and support.

General Secretary Nduna expressed his joy on the occasion of the meeting, stressing that the organization closely cooperates with the World Council of Churches and is deeply grateful to the alliance member, the Round Table Foundation, for the support provided to the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church.

During the meeting, His Holiness expressed his personal concerns over the events in Syria, which effects many Armenian sons and daughters living in Syria, who are immigrating to Armenia. The Catholicos of All Armenians appealed to the interchurch organizations, also to ACT, to offer necessary support to the brave people who find themselves in helpless conditions.

At the conclusion His Holiness offered His blessing to the organization, wishing them success in the mission of the organization for strengthening the Christian spirit and increasing goodness in the life of humanity.
