Catholicos of All Armenians Received the Euronest Commission Delegation
On February 23, in Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received a delegation from the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly. The special commission of the European Union is an assembly of Eastern Europe members focusing on social, educational, cultural and civil society issues. The delegation was accompanied by Artak Zakariank, Deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, and co-president of the commission.
Welcoming the visit of the delegation to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, in his comments the Catholicos of All Armenians remarked that Armenia and Europe are the bearers of a value system based on Christian ethics, which continues to serve as a common base for cooperation and further development of society.
The Supreme Patriarch also commented on the work being done by the commission in the social, cultural and educational spheres, wishing them new successes in the mission of the commission. His Holiness expressed his belief that through the exchange of experiences, such commissions will make great strides in overcoming different challenges and contribute to the progress of the country.
During the meeting a review was made of the involvement of the Armenian Apostolic Church in peaceful missions, stressing that love, solidarity and mutual understanding promotes positive efforts between nations and peoples. Answering the questions of the delegation members, His Holiness recounted an overview on the history of the Armenian Church, the structure and her activity in different countries.
The Armenian Patriarch also spoke on the current relations between the Sister Churches and the Armenian Church, as well as the current activities on youth issues.
Following the meeting, the members of the delegation toured the Mother Cathedral, then the Alex and Marie Manoogian Treasury House Museum.
