Armenian Church Contributes to the Elimination of Poverty Housing
On July 21, 2009, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, blessed the commencement of the "Building on Faith" project implemented by the Fuller Center for Housing of Armenia. The opening ceremony took place in the village Haytagh (Armavir region).
The Armenian Church and the Fuller Center for Housing of Armenia signed an agreement in June of 2008 to coordinate efforts aimed at the elimination of poverty housing in Armenia.As part of the "His Holiness Karekin II Work Project", the Fuller Center for Housing plans to build 37 homes for families in housing need - symbolizing 36 Dioceses of the Armenian Church plus the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. 20 of the homes will be built throughout six regions of Armenia thanks to generous donors from the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of America.
