Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God Celebrated in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

On August 18, the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church celebrated the Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God.
On this festive Day, under the chairmanship of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; the Brotherhood of the Mother See attended the Divine Liturgy in the St. Gayane Monastery. The Celebrant was His Grace Bishop Vahan Hovhannisyan, Director of "Garegin I" educational center of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
Presenting the sacrament of the feast, the Celebrant particularly emphasized: "The Holy Mother of God has an important role for our Church and people, which is reflected in the hymns and worship of the Church, as well as our altars are decorated with the image of the Mother of God." On this occasion, the Celebrant emphasized that the Holy Mother of God, being an ordinary person, realizing the difficulties in human life, without hesitation, courageously obeyed the words of the archangel, becoming the mother of the Incarnate God: "The Holy Mother of God, submitting her will to God's will, first of all became an occasion and a means for the realization of God's plan of salvation. With this, she also taught us an important lesson that regardless of the realities in life, we must obey the Lord's will," stated the Celebrant.
At the conclusion, Bishop Vahan asked for God's intercession so that God would strengthen our faith and awaken the spirit of dedication and courage in each of us.
Following the Divine Liturgy, the church procession headed fro the St. Gayane Monastery to the St. Trdat Open Air Altar of the Mother See, where under the leadership of His Holiness Karekin II, the Service for the Blessing of the Grapes was offered. The blessed grapes were distributed to the faithful.
