Archbishop Hovnan Derderian

- General Information
Was born in 1957, in Beirut, Lebanon. Baptismal name is Vahram.
From 1963 to 1970 - Forty Martyrs Armenian National School.
From 1970 to 1975 - Armenian Seminary of Antelias and Jarankavoratz Theological Seminary.
From 1976 to 1979 - Gevorgian Theological Seminary of Holy Etchmiadzin.
From 1980 to 1983 - Oxford University (Bachelor's degree).
In 1987 - Master's degree (University of Oxford).
- Ecclesiastical titles and ordination
In 1978 - Ordained to the Diaconate by His Eminence Archbishop Hoosik Santoorian.
In 1980 - Ordained as a Celibate priest by the Catholicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Vasken I.
In 1984 - Rank of Archimandrite by His Eminence Archbishop Hoosik Santoorian. Thesis entitled: "Vrtanes Kertogh".
In 1989 - Rank of Senior Archimandrite by His Grace Bishop Anania Arabajean.
In 1990 - Consecrated as a Bishop by Catholicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Vasken I.
In 1993 - Rank of Archbishop by the Pontifical Encyclical of His Holiness Vasken I.
- Tenure
From 1983 to 1984 - Lectured at the Gevorkian Theological Seminary.
In 1984 - Member of the Middle-Eastern Council of Churches, and an executive member of the Canadian Council of Churches.
In 1985 - Spiritual pastor of the Holy Trinity Armenian Church in Toronto.
From 1990 to 2003 - Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Canada.
Since 2000 - Member of the Supreme Spiritual Council.
Since 2003 - Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America.
