Born in 1954, in Sumgait. Baptismal name is Gurgen.

From 1966 to 1971 - Physics and mathematics specialized school N 132 in Yerevan.

From 1971 to 1972 - Faculty of Electrical Engineering of Yerevan Polytechnic Institute after Karl Marx.

From 1972 to 1976 -  Yerevan Brusov State University of Languages and Social Sciences.

In 1976 - Russian language and literature lecturer in the School of Yeghegnut village

From 1978 to 1980 - Ministry of Light Industry .

From 1980 to 1984 - Gevorkian Theological Seminary of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

From 1985 to 1987 - Saint Petersburg Spiritual Academy.

From 1987 to 1988 - Leningrad Theological Academy, PhD in Theology (Ph.D. in Theology).

 

  • Ecclesiastical titles and ordination

 

In 1983 - Ordained to the Diaconate by His Eminence Archbishop Nerses Pozapalian.

In 1985 - Ordained as a Celibate priest by His Eminence Archbishop Nerses Pozapalian.

In 1987 - Rank of Archimandrite by His Eminence Archbishop Nerses Pozapalian (doctrinal thesis entitled “Theology according to the Christian tradition and mystical teachings - yoga, theosophy and anthroposophy”).

In 1988 - Rank of Senior Archimandrite by His Eminence Archbishop Torkom Manoogian.

In 1988 - Consecrated as a Bishop by the Catholicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Vasken I.

In 1998 - Rank of Archbishop by the Pontifical Encyclical of the Catholicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Karekin I.

In 1986 - Chief professor at the Gevorkian Theological Seminary.

In 1986 - Lecturer at Gevorgyan Theological Seminary.

From 1986 to 1987 - Vice-Dean of the Gevorgyan Theological Seminary.

From 1987 to 1989 - Abbot of the St. Hripsime Monastery.

From 1989 to 2021 - Primate of the Diocese of Artsakh of the Armenian church.

In 2021 - Pontifical Envoy-at-Large.
