  • General Information

Was born on July 21, 1965 in the village of Artimed. Baptismal name is Edvard.

From 1972 to 1982 - Secondary school in Artimed.

From 1982 to 1989 - Gevorkian Theological Seminary.

From 1984 to 1986 -Service in the Soviet Army.

 

  • Ecclesiastical titles and ordination

 

In 1989 - Ordained to the Diaconate by His Eminence Archbishop Hoosik Santourian.

In 1991 - Ordained as a Celibate priest by His Eminence Archbishop Nerses Pozapalian.

In 1996 - Rank of Archimandrite by His Holiness Karekin I, Catholicos of All Armenians. Thesis: “The Quotation Sources of the Books “Hartsmants” “Book of Questions” and “Voskeporik” by St. Gregory of Datev”.   

In 2003 - Consecrated as a Bishop by His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians.

In 2023 - Rank of Archbishop by the Encyclical of His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians.

 

  • Tenure

From 1989 to 1991 - Secretary of the “Etchmiadzin” monthly.

From 1990 to 1991 - Supervisor of the Cathedral Museum.

From 1992 to 1994 - Staff-bearer of His Holiness Vasken I.

From 1991 to 2002 -  Lecturer in the Gevorkian Theological Seminary (New Testament, Old Testament, Armenian Church Holidays, Christian)

From 1993 to 1995 -  Executive Director of the Sunday School affiliated with the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and Araratina Pontifical Diocese.

From 1995 to 1999 -  Director of the Christian Education Center .

From 1999 to 2002 -  Locum Tenens in the Diocese of Aragatsotn.

From 2002 to 2019 - Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Georgia.

Since 2007 - Member of the Gevorkian Theological Seminary.

From 2017 to 2021 -  Monastic Disciplinary Committee of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

In 2018 - Chairman of the Armenia-Diaspora Committee.

Since 2019 - Director of the Ecclesiastical Conceptual Issues Office of the Mother See..
