Was born in 1957, in Yerevan. Baptismal name is Samvel.

From 1976 to 1986 - Secondary school.

From 1977 to 1979 - Served in the Soviet Army,

From 1981 to 1985 - Gevorkian Theological Seminary.

 

  • Ecclesiastical titles and ordinations

 

In 1984 - Ordained to the Diaconate by His Eminence Archbishop Nerses Pozpalian.

In 1987 - Ordained as a Celibate priest by His Eminence Archbishop Nerses Pozpalian.

In 1989 - Rank of Archimandrite by His Eminence Archbishop Anania Arabajian. Thesis: “The Christological views of St. Gregory of Tatev”

In 1997 -  Consecrated as a Bishop by His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians.

In 2006 - Rank of Archbishop by Pontifical Encyclical of His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians.

  • Tenure

 

From 1985 to 1986 - Secretary at the editorial office of “Etchmiadzin”  Monthly magazine.

From 1987 to 1989 - Scepter-bearer and the secretary of His Holiness Vasken I, Catholicos of All Armenians. Head of the Ecclesiastic Art Department of the Mother See.

From 1989 to 1996 - Abbot of the St. Mesrop Mashtots Church of Oshakan.

From 1996 to 1999 - Primate of the Diocese of Aragatsotn.

Since 1999 - Vicar General of the Araratian Pontifical Diocese.

Since 2000 - Member of the Supreme Spiritual Council.

Honorary Professor of the Yerevan State Academy of Art.

Honorary Doctor of the M. Heratsi Yerevan State Medical University
